At first sight it’s easy to see how Camel Rock got its name. Five minutes drive north of Bermagui, Camel Rock towers on the beach front as a striking rock formation which really does look like a camel from just about every direction. It adds interest to what is a very pleasant and popular swimming beach. You could be excused for thinking someone in the area really had a camel fixation, since the area not only has Camel Rock, but also names such as Mt Dromedary and little Dromedary nearby. Dromedary in fact was named by Captain Cook from the sea.
