It's over again-the great annual Marshall and Tacheci Sandcastle competition, at the Bermagui Seaside fair, and what a competition it was!
We had lots of entrants of all ages with lots of different ideas, and let me tell you, judging all of the incredible entries was not an easy task!
(At one stage we even had members from the council come down on to the beach to ensure that everyone was building constructions within council guidelines!)
The beach was lined with everything from cars to couches, pyramids to turtles, castles to crabs, serpents and crocodiles!
However in the end there can be only one winner, and for the open/Family section, with a prize of $100 cash it was the Martyniak Family, with their entry of a giant Easter bunny. Second place of $25 went to Jacinda and Roxy, with a colourful mermaid. The tail was a bright blue/green which they had cleverly done with food colouring.
Highly Commended prizes went to;
Kayla, Zachary, Natalie and Claire with “Freddie & Freddie Junior”
Sonia and Carrie Evans with “mermaid classic”
And the Foxcroft Family with a traditional sandcastle.
In the Children’s Section, first prize of $40 cash went to Luke, Rowan, John and Connor with their Pyramids of Gaza, which could be seen from all ends of the beach! A very close second prize went to Aden, Yindi, Alice and Bronte with their entry of ‘Gone Fishing” they even had a school of real fish swimming out in front!
Highly Commended went to Tessa and Julian for a large shark with fish swimming into his mouth and a fantastic relief of Seahorses and rocks on the bottom of the sea.
